Many cats are up for adoption in shelters, such as the Human Society, that have FIP (Feline Infectious Peritonitis) and don’t get adopted because of his or her condition. FIP is a fatal disease in cats that is caused by a type of virus called corona virus. FIP only infects cats, which means that a cat with FIP cannot transmit the disease to other animals, including dogs. Humans are not at risk from FIP and cannot be infected by a cat with FIP.If you do not have any other cats in your home and are thinking about getting a cat, you might want to consider adopting a cat with FIP.
